I was talking to my dad, and a conversation about Tea Parties evolved. Anyways he knows a staunch conservative who went to one of the tea parties and was surprised it was almost completely old white guys. Further more the guy completely hates his bosses, who are also staunch conservatives. He thinks they’re greedy and phonies, which from what Ive heard of them is probably right. But its mind reeling to me this guy would be so conservative when the flaws of conservatism are right in front of his face. He basically wants to give more power to the very people he hates.
Its the a folly of idealists. Make the policies you’d want in your ideal world and the people will change. Well the people don’t change, they just take advantage, and the ideal turns into a nightmare. There has to be some mechanism that promotes people to change before the ideal policies can be implemented. In the case of the rich titans of industry and finance, something that keeps them honest. Be it law, transparency, and unbiased watchdog group and/or an aware public with enough solidarity they can actually make an effect on dishonest business practices.
But we don’t have any of that, and its a horrible idea to try and implement a dream without taking into consideration the reality its being applied to.
